Sofas By You, Harveys Furniture: How My Sofa Was Made

I have a bit of a weakness for sofas.  My Pinterest board is currently filled with lush velvet beauties that I've been coveting for months.  So when Harveys asked me if I would trial their Sofa's By You service, I jumped at the chance.

Harveys are a household name.  They've got over 150 stores nationwide and are by far the largest furniture specialist in the UK.  They specialist in lounge and dining furniture and they are committed to providing value products to their customers, which, let's face it, is what we all want to hear.

So what is Sofas By You?  Well, it's the latest in four main collections and it offers something for everyone.  Basically, you can go on to the website and create your own perfect sofa which is personalised and customised to your requirements.  This includes the size, shape and fabric, right down to the colour and style of the feet.  When I initially went on to the website to have a look, I was really excited and surprised by the range of of colours and styles that there were to choose from.  There are a total of 16 ranges including three seater and two seater models, as well as corner sofas, armchairs, loveseats, sofa beds and footstools.  Best of all, there are 80 - yes 80! - different fabrics to create your perfect product.  Traditional, contemporary, patterned - whatever your taste, they'll have something to suit.

Another massive plus for me was that all their products are Handmade in Britain which is a real bonus in our current economical climate.  They also guarantee delivery in under six weeks which is far shorter than many other brands for a handmade item.

I had so much fun choosing my sofa, I have to admit.  The choice is extensive but it didn't take me long to pick the Winslet as my style choice.  I've always loved a chesterfield and this was was perfect for my space and style.   The thing that I love about chesterfields is that they are timeless and can fit into any type of decor, so I figured that it would be a good investment choice.  With so many fabric choices, I spent a happy hour working out which one to pick.   What a hard choice!   I managed to narrow it down to the following:

Ultimately, I could not resist the lure of the Luxor Artichoke, a mid green velvet that was perfect for my space.  I ordered a three seater in the Winslet and sat back to await it's arrival.

So what happened next?  Well, Harveys rather brilliantly took photographs of my sofa actually being made, from start to finish.  It was amazing to see my sofa being created and it made me realise that handmade really does mean handmade. The quality of workmanship, care and attention were next to none.

My sofa arrived on Monday, delivered from Dartford (that's a fair distance from York!) by a very friendly delivery driver who brought the sofa into the house for me and placed it into position.  Really lovely, friendly service.  And best of all, I absolutely love it and it's made even more special by the fact that I can see how much care was put into the making.

Aside from the Sofas By You offering, there's also the Moda range which takes inspiration from modern Italian design, described as light and airy styling with sleek leather comfort.  Plus At Home, sofas with maximum slouchability and family dining tables for everyday life.

Next week, I'm going to be showing you how my gorgeous Winslet sofa looks in my home and how I styled it with my current furniture.  But in the meantime, if you are in the market for a new sofa, I'd strongly suggest checking out Harveys.  I've been super impressed by both the website options, service and the product choice and I couldn't be happier with my new sofa.  Click here to find the store that is closest to you or go online.

PS:  I've been nominated for Best Newcomer in the Amara IBA's - if you've enjoyed this post and my blog, I'd be hugely grateful if you would click this link to vote!  Thank you.
