Made.com Goes North: Supper Club At UNCLE
When Made.com e mailed me to invite me to an event in Manchester, my excitement was off the scale. If you are a Northern based blogger, you will know that 99.9% of events take place in London which involve a) early mornings, b) late nights and c) cramming in at least 15 events into one day so that you can make the journey down worthwhile. I immediately messaged Kimberley of Swoonworthy Blog so that we could rejoice together in the fact that someone had recognised that bloggers do live north of Watford.
Even more excitingly, the event was a Supper Club which meant there would also be the opportunity to meet other bloggers over a glass of prosecco. And all only 77 miles from my home which compared to the usual 215 miles was like popping round the corner for a curry.
After meeting a friend for lunch, I arranged to pick up Kimberley in the car so that we could meet the other guests for a drink before moving on to the UNCLE building in Central Manchester. I'd only met Kimberley once before briefly at a meet up in London but we quickly bonded over a love of bad language due to the sat nav proving incapable of finding the venue. After a quick one at The Refuge - if you haven't been there, you NEED to, if only for the Insta photography opportunities - we joined the Made.com team at the UNCLE venue.
So what is UNCLE? Well, UNCLE is a brand new concept in home rental. They provide affordable, central City accommodation with resident managers and all the amenities you could ask for. They have three in London and one in Manchester, which was the venue for our dinner date. It's super cool, like a very, very flash halls of residence. And how does Made.com come into this? They've teamed up with UNCLE to provide furnishing packages for residents. Plus the apartments that are already furnished come complete with Made.com furniture - there's a really sleek look to the apartment decor and as a result, the Made.com styling fits in perfectly.
After drinks and a chat in the first apartment, we were taken on a tour of the apartment block to see how it all worked. There's a reception room that looks like it comes straight out of Livingetc, a common room, a gym, art studio (seriously) and a neon signed post room. They think of everything - the on site reception holds a rescue pack including everything you might need, including a corkscrew in case of wine bottle opening emergency.
Dinner was held in one of the larger apartments and was catered for by Grape & Grain, a Manchester based catering company that have won awards for their innovative ideas. Being a room full of bloggers, obviously most of the time was spent taking photographs of the amazing food that we were presented with. They matched the wine to every course although rather annoyingly I was driving, so couldn't partake. The food was stunning and I would absolutely recommend them if you are in the North and looking for a caterer for a special occasion.
It was really lovely to meet the other bloggers who attended and to meet the lovely Claudia and Olivia from Made.com who made us all feel really welcome and spoilt. Well done to Made.com for taking the lead in bringing us all together here in the North!
